Back again: Dillas made the cut at the Latin American Amateur Championships last time out

Jarryd Dillas and Walker Campbell will represent Bermuda at the Latin American Amateur Champions next week.

The pair were selected to represent the Island at the tournament, which will take place at Casa de Campo’s Teeth of the Dog course in the Dominican Republic.

Invitations for the championship are sent to the leading players from the 29 IOC-recognised countries and territories from the Americas region that are members of the International Golf Federation.

Each country is automatically provided with two positions, which are to be filled by their best-ranked players from the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Dillas and Walker, who finished second and seventh in the Bermuda Golf Associations order of merit last year, will compete in the event from January 14 to 17.

There is plenty at stake, with the champion receiving an invitation to compete in the 2016 Masters at Augusta National Golf Club.

In addition, the winner and the runners-up will be exempt into the final stages of qualifying for the Open Championship and the US Open Championship. Finally, the champion will receive full exemptions into the Amateur Championship, US Amateur Championship and any other USGA amateur championship for which he is eligible.

This will be Walker’s first time at the event, while Dillas is returning after making the cut last year at Pilar Golf Club in Argentina.

•The Bermuda Four-Ball Championships will be played at Tucker’s Point Club from February 5 to 7.

Registration is still open, and information and entry forms can be found on the Bermuda Golf Aassociation’s website, bermudagolf.org.
