Bermudian Kenny Leseur is in a three-way tie for first place in the boys’ 14-15 division after the opening round of the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships at the Trump National Doral course in Miami.

Leseur shot a one-under-par 71 to sit on top of the leaderboard along with Zachery Pollo, from California, and Simons Roessler, of Chile. Leseur is fresh off competing at the Saugahatchee Junior Tournament in Alabama last week when he finished tied for second after the two rounds, three strokes behind the winner, Brock Blais, from Georgia.

This tournament contains a strong field of golfers from 42 states and 27 countries.

In the girls’ 13-14 division, Josefina Rendo of Argentina leads with an even-par 72, with Thanchanok Iadpluem, of Thailand, in second place on 74.

Play continues today.
