Johnny Bart endured a tough outing in the penultimate round of the Canadian Junior Boys Championship at Wascana Country Club in Regina, Saskatchewan, today.

The Saltus Grammar School student carded a four-over 76, his first over-par round at the 72-hole championship, and at last check was tied for 37th at one-over with a bunch of players still out on the course.

“Didn’t ever have my best stuff today, it was a battle with highs and lows. All I’m focused on is tomorrow and securing a good finish,” he told The Royal Gazette.

Bart was four-over at the turn after carding three double bogeys and two birdies on the front nine. However, he fared much better on the back nine, which he played at even par after carding two birdies and two bogeys on the stroll coming in.

The 17-year golfer had hoped to close the gap on Canadian Michael Vivone at the summit having started the day seven shots adrift of the leader after shooting a three-under 69 and even par 72 in the first and second rounds.

At last check Vivone, of Vancouver, held a two-shot advantage over the field at 15-under with three holes left to play.
