This year’s Moongate Tour Order of Merit has come down to an exciting two-horse race between reigning champion Kenny Leseur and fellow professional Adam Perry with two medal events remaining.

Very little separates the two remaining title contenders heading into the penultimate round of the championship today at Port Royal Golf Course, where they will be looking to produce a strong showing to enhance their title hopes.

Perry and Leseur already have one win under their belts and have been the most consistent players on this year’s tour.

Perry held a 150-point lead in the Order of Merit over Leseur after the opening two rounds of the championship before the latter managed to close the gap after winning the third round at Tucker’s Point Golf Club in June and finishing runner-up in the event at Belmont Hill Golf Course in July.

Fellow professionals Nick Jones and Dwayne Pearman, who also have one win under their belts, could also be in the hunt for honours in today’s 18-hole event at Port Royal.

The pair have struck form lately, with Ocean View teaching professional Jones pipping Leseur by one shot to pick up his first win in the previous event at Belmont Hills Golf Course and Pearman producing a solid third place among a stellar field on the Moonlight Tour in Orlando, Florida, last month.

Another player who could challenge for honours is professional and director of Instruction at Golfzon Leadbetter Academy Bermuda, Quinton Sherlock Jr, who also has one win under his belt this year.

This tournament serves as an ideal warm-up for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship Local Qualifier and Gosling’s Bermuda Open, which both take place at Port Royal next week.

The 36-hole Local Qualifier will be held on September 8 and 9 and the 54-hole Gosling’s Bermuda Open from September 10 to 12.
