No play on Sunday at Butterfield Bermuda Championship
There will be no play on Sunday at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
Tournament organisers have made the decision to call time on the day’s play at Port Royal Golf Course with heavy winds preventing any action from taking place.
Organisers of the tournament had brought forward the tee times to early on Sunday in the hope of beating the worst of the windy conditions but that move failed to pay off with gusts exceeding 40mph and conditions showing no signs of improving.
In a statement on social media, the PGA Tour laid out the latest plans for the tournament with the hope of getting some play in on Monday.
“With no improvement to the current weather conditions and anticipated further deterioration, there will be no play today [Sunday],” the statement read.
“More information regarding play on Monday will be provided no later than 5pm today.”
Heading into the final round, the tournament remained wide open with joint leaders Seamus Power and Austin Smotherman clinging to a two-shot advantage over the rest of the field through 54 holes
