A new cardiologist has joined the team at the Bermuda Heart Foundation’s CORE Heart Health Centre.

Dr Carl Reimers has almost 20 years of experience and will assist in the centre’s aims of reducing the number of people at risk of heart problems by 25 percent over the next five years.

An expert in preventive cardiac care, he has also performed thousands of complex interventional coronary procedures with an “outstanding success rate”, according to Bermuda Heart Foundation.

Dr Reimers has worked at the Beth Israel Medical Centre in New York City and the Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute of New York, and was a visiting professor at the St Petersburg Scientific Research Institute in Russia. He also volunteered with the Hearts Around the World charity in 2009 and travelled to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to perform heart procedures.

The cardiologist has triple board certification in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and internal medicine.

Dr Reimers joins Dr Varinder Singh as a resident cardiologist at CORE Hearth Health Centre. The team also includes cardiac fitness specialists, dietitians and psychologists to help clients adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
