Belco limits access to payment centre
Belco has waived credit card fees to help customers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
A spokesman for the power company said that MasterCard, Visa and American Express would all be accepted.
Dennis Pimentel, Belco's president, added: “At Belco, we are doing all we can to ensure business continuity and assist our customers during these unprecedented times.
“We are making it easier for our customers to receive and pay their bills and we are available online, via phone and e-mail to assist in any way we can.”
The company earlier announced that it would not disconnect customers for non-payment up to April 30.
The spokesman said: “The Belco payment centre remains open at its main office located at 27 Serpentine Road but will be closing early at 3.30pm each day until further notice.
“Customer service representatives are available until 5pm Monday to Friday.
“Social distancing has been adopted for the health and safety of customers, particularly seniors and vulnerable customers, and staff by limiting the number of customers in the Belco lobby to four or less at a time.”
The spokesman said that delayed mail deliveries could prevent customers from receiving their bills, but customers can sign up for an online account to check their balance and pay their bills from home.
Customers can also call 299 2800 between 8.30am and 5pm to check outstanding balances.
