Bermuda records 29th Covid-related death
Bermuda recorded another Covid-19 related death on Saturday, bringing the island’s number of fatalities from the disease to 29.
Kim Wilson, the minister of health, confirmed the death in a brief statement on Saturday.
Ms Wilson said: “I am deeply saddened to report another Covid-19 related death.
“I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and friends. They are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
“The Ministry of Health will not release personal details about the individual, and I ask the public to respect the privacy of the family as they mourn their loved one.”
Ms Wilson added that there will not be an update on Covid-19 test results and statistics until today.
As of Friday, there were 540 cases of Covid-19 on the island, compared to 904 infections 13 days ago.
But the number of fatalities has more than doubled in the past month.
In the first year of the pandemic - since March 2020 - the island recorded 12 deaths. Since April 1 this year, a further 17 deaths have been recorded.
On Friday, there were 25 people in hospital with the disease, with four patients in intensive care.
