The novel coronavirus

A nursery school in Southampton was closed yesterday after someone associated with the facility tested positive for Covid-19.

Treetops II preschool in Southampton will now be deep cleaned before it can re-open.

Sarah Oatley, the school’s head teacher, declined to comment when contacted by The Royal Gazette.

But in an e-mail sent out to parents this morning, Ms Oatley said: “Please be advised that Tree Tops II will be closed until further notice as we have had a positive Covid case.

“The school will be professionally deep cleaned following a risk assessment by the ESU [Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit] before re-opening.

“At this time I advise booking a Covid test for your child as they have been in direct contact with a positive case.

“My sincere apologies for any inconvenience.”
