Latest shipment of Covid vaccines arrives on island

Another shipment of Covid-19 vaccines arrived on the island on Wednesday night, Government House has announced.

Government House confirmed in a Facebook post that 14,040 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine arrived on last night’s British Airways flight.

The post added: “This is the eleventh shipment of vaccines to Bermuda following the first delivery on January 9, 2021.

“As with all previous shipments, the provision and transportation of the vaccine and ancillary equipment has been provided by the UK Government at no cost to the people of Bermuda.”

The island’s vaccination programme restarted last week after a break for the holidays, but 115,145 vaccinations had been administered by December 23 last year.

At that time 72.4 per cent of the population had received at least one dose of the vaccine, 71 per cent had received two and 34.9 per cent had also been given a booster.
