The Bermuda Hospitals Board has appointed a new head of technology ahead of the launch of an electronic medical record system.

Keltie Jamieson takes over the role of chief hospital information officer, a post left vacant since 2015.

Ms Jamieson, who has more than 25 years’ experience in digital strategy, will oversee the BHB’s information technology, information management and telecommunications functions and operations.

Her responsibilities include developing and maintaining a comprehensive IT strategy that boosts the BHB’s introduction of new systems such as bringing in electronic medical records from October.

Ms Jamieson was previously a senior adviser at Horizon Health Network in New Brunswick, Canada.

There she provided advisory and consultant services to the province of New Brunswick as it prepared for implementation of its clinical information system.

Michael Richmond, the BHB president and CEO, said: “We are excited to welcome Ms Jamieson as the new chief hospital information officer.

“Ms Jamieson joins BHB at a critical time. With the launch of our electronic medical record system in late October, her experience and knowledge will be critical as we harness this technology at BHB.

“The EMR is a transformational tool for our staff to improve safety, quality and efficiency, and deliver a service of which Bermuda can be truly proud.”
