Community health worker, Jahkari Woods, has been recognised for his work with a public service excellence award.

Mr Woods was presented with last month’s award due to always being organised and one step ahead when ordering medical supplies for nurses and other staff at the department of health.

A government spokeswoman said: “Mr Woods is praised for his responsiveness, teamwork and innovation, and for playing a significant role in assisting the department with its move from the Hamilton Health Centre to its temporary Reid Street location.

“Additionally, Mr Woods sacrificed one of his days off to be available at the hurricane shelter after already staying overnight to assist with the set up on short notice.

“This kind of work ethic is extremely important to foster a good working culture.”

David Burt personally commended Mr Woods on his efforts and service to Bermuda and its people.

He said: “It is heart-warming to see a young Bermudian with such a high level of professional integrity and respect for his colleagues. Healthcare is challenging and demanding at any time, not merely amid a pandemic.”

Derrick Binns, the head of the Public Service, added: “Congratulations Mr Woods. With great pleasure, we present you this award in recognition of your steadfast commitment to public service excellence.

“Keep up the great work, and I personally look forward to seeing your continued growth and success.”
