Asthma charity urging people to pop into its pop-up

Asthma nurse Lindsay Bishop will be popping up at the Washington Mall on Friday to highlight the need to properly control the condition.

The event is being organised by the asthma charity Open Airways, with the nurse at the mall every Friday in November from 11am to 1.30pm.

A statement from Open Airways said: “Asthma is very common in Bermuda, affecting about 8,000 people, adults and children alike.

“Many people with asthma do not have good control and are accepting a life with asthma symptoms. They feel it is normal to use their blue relief inhaler regularly.

“Open Airways wants to improve this and is encouraging people with asthma to reach out for help.

“Come and talk to us on Fridays at our Washington Mall pop-ups. Lindsay is also available to schedule a free home visit, providing more extensive discussions surrounding asthma, triggers and more. No referral is required.

“Pop by our pop-up and ask any of your questions. Lindsay will check your inhaler technique, advise on asthma treatment choices, discuss asthma triggers and provide a spacer if needed.”

Open Airways can be contacted on 536-6060 or by e-mail at nurse@openairways.com
