An international moderator whose clients have included Barack Obama and Richard Branson is the keynote speaker of a new corporate wellness retreat that features close to 20 local “thought leaders”.

Dan Ram, a six-time TEDx speaker, entrepreneur and start-up coach who has worked with individual founders and national governments, will hold the two-day My Bermuda Reset event that takes place today and tomorrow at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

The event, which is still open for registration, aims to offer corporate leaders tailored programmes designed to revitalise the mind and body.

My Bermuda Reset has been introduced by Sandro Fubler, physiotherapist and chief executive of Evolution Wellness Centre, and Janice Mullings-George, an inspirational speaker, author and award-winning registered nurse.

The executive team is also made up of Klorizzea Russell, Wayne Swan and Francezia Campbell.

The retreat will be capped off with a silent beach walk on Saturday morning.

Dan Ram’s website says: “Dan Ram travels the globe as an event MC and speaker at over 100 events a year.

“Commanding the stage with changemakers like President Barack Obama, billionaire founders like Sir Richard Branson, record-breaking athletes like F1 champion Nico Rosberg and Grammy-winning artists and celebrities, he works on four continents, from college campuses to parliaments to in-house corporate innovation days for Fortune 500 companies to the biggest tech conferences in the world.

“His passion is to inspire people with his motto ‘Start Now, Start Simple’ in building a future we all want to live in.”

Local speakers include Ms Mullings-George and Mr Fubler as well as Tina Laws, entrepreneur and relationship and couples intimacy consultant at The Love Compass, and Scott Pearman, chief executive and president of the Bermuda Hospitals Board.

Ms Mullings-George, who has a master’s degree in public health, told The Royal Gazette: “All of our speakers are passionate about wellness. They are high performers who have demonstrated it is not impossible to be able to do what you love and still take care of yourself. They are all thought leaders with lived experiences.

“Our keynote speaker is amazing. His Ted talk is framed around the concept of Start Now, Start Simple. He is a huge advocate of ensuring people realise they have the power to make simple changes that can have a lasting impact on their lives.

“Maintaining a good harmony between mental and physical wellness does make an impact on the overall person and their lived experience.

“My Bermuda Reset is about infusing wellness into work spaces. One of the main aims is corporate wellness as we want people to go to work knowing how to better cope with stress and feeling supported.

“We believe that Bermuda needs more wellness initiatives. First of all, we look at population statistics that show we are not doing great as it pertains to illnesses. Our whole aim is to give people practical strategies and techniques they can easily apply in their work spaces.

“We want this to be an annual event that builds momentum to attract visitors to Bermuda and eventually creates a type of wellness tourism on the island.

“Our aim is to encourage organisations to send their teams to events like this at the start of the year when they are looking for a reset.”

There will be a silent auction at the event, with proceeds from the sale of a painting by local artist Alice Cedenio going towards Age Concern, Bermuda Nurses Association and Bermuda Physiotherpy Association.

My Bermuda Reset starts at 8am today with a breakfast, followed by breathing exercises by Mr Fubler and the keynote speaker’s address. There will be panel discussions throughout both events, which finish at 3.30pm with a networking session.

Saturday’s walk begins at 9am at Jobson’s Cove and finishes at Horseshoe Bay Beach.
