The Bermuda Diabetes Association is hosting a free membership drive in recognition of the upcoming visit of King Charles III.

The charity said its pharmacy is “rolling out the red carpet” for residents whose first, middle or last name is Charles as part of the special promotion on April 30 and May 1.

The free membership is designed to support healthier lifestyles and increase wellness savings, the charity said.

It said the membership drive, created collaboratively between the BDA and its community pharmacy, is open to all, not only those living with diabetes.

Members unlock a range of monthly benefits, including $15 off prescription co-pays, 15 per cent off pharmacy retail goods, and much more, it added.

Francesca Wyatt, marketing and community relations co-ordinator at the BDA community pharmacy, said: “We wanted to celebrate the King’s visit in true Bermudian style — fun, community-driven and with a touch of royal flair.

“With a free BDA membership, every Charles on the island will enjoy royal perks and big pharmacy savings all year long.”

Melissa Levy-James, the head pharmacist, added: “At our pharmacy, we aim to treat our customers like royalty every day.

“Even if you’re not named Charles, you can still join the BDA membership for just $40, unlocking a range of savings while supporting our vital community programmes.

“Our monthly ‘$15 off prescription co-pays day is especially popular because it applies to every single prescription. Many customers recoup the cost of their membership in just one visit.”

The pharmacy on Princess Street in Hamilton is open to the public and operates as a social enterprise, with proceeds directly supporting community care.

In 2025, the pharmacy filled nearly 1,400 prescriptions, valued at more than $160,000, at no cost to patients with limited insurance, or no insurance at all.

To claim the “royal offer”, the charity said, eligible residents can visit the pharmacy on April 30 and May 1 and present valid identification.
