Health charity receives $10,000 donation
A health charity offering free screenings throughout the island has picked up a donation to support its mandate.
Aon Insurance Bermuda presented a cheque for $10,000 to DailyMale towards screening kits and the running costs of the charity’s mobile screening clinic.
The charity initially provided support to men on the island for the early detection of prostate cancer.
It now targets both men and women, bridging gaps in access to healthcare.
Richard Tomkins, managing director of Aon Reinsurance Solutions, presented a $10,000 cheque to Jonathan Makanjuola, a consultant urologist at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and executive director of DailyMale.
The insurance firm said Mr Tomkins was the beneficiary of early-stage screening for prostate cancer, where early-stage cancer was diagnosed. He is now cured.
He said: “Since my diagnosis, I have become somewhat of a preacher about the importance of early screening by your medical professional.”
