Positive Image completed their comeback to book their spot in the semi-finals of the Bermuda Ball Hockey Association League play-offs after defeating Spine and Sport 5-2 on Wednesday night.

The semi-finals start at Pembroke Community Club on Friday with CG setting the ball rolling when they clash with BDA Spirits. Positive Image will then hope that their players are rested and recovered from injuries when they face Frontier.

Chris Allington, the Positive Image team sponsor and centre, was delighted to make it to the next stage

“It was a really good series and they made us work for the win,’’ Allington said. “It was good to beat these guys because they’re a really good team.

“We've got two more rounds to go to win for us to be champions. As long as we keep scoring and our defence line keeps playing good, we should be able to go all the way and win the league.

“We built the team to have one line that was really good at scoring and the rest of the team was really good on defence.

“Our top line scored all the goals we needed to win the last game and the rest of the team held up solid against their team, which had really good forwards.

“We lost the first game and then we won the second. First game we had some of our top guys out and last game, they also had some of their top guys out.

“In the last game, it was pretty even, they were missing one of their good players, but both teams had most of their players, so it was a fair game.”

In a league dominated by Canadians, Caiden Millet, 17, is the youngest player in the league and one of the few Bermuda-born players and he has had a fantastic debut season with Spine and Sport.

“I had a decent season with a couple of goals and assists,’’ he said.

“We lost in the play-offs because we were dealing with a lot of injuries and absences. The opponents came out with all their good guys, so it was a tough loss for us.

“We fought hard and hopefully the boys are going to come back stronger next season.

“Unfortunately, I'm not going to be in the draft because I'm going off to varsity, but I’ll be bouncing around the league as a sub when I'm back on holiday.’’
