Give mom a laugh this Sunday

Most Mother’s Day activities take place early in the day, such as brunch or afternoon tea, but for those women who want to get dressed up and enjoy an evening out with their loved ones there is another option.Comedian Nadanja Bailey, of Image Entertainment, will be hosting his fifth consecutive Mother’s Day Show at Fairmont Hamilton Princess on Sunday at 8pm.He will be showcasing all local talent this year, including soul singers Sia Spence and Sheila Smith, the latest Bermuda Idol Winner Latosha Coddrington and gospel singer Toni Robinson, among others.Comedy will also be on offer thanks to Mr Bailey, his sister Nishanthi Bailey and Jah Simmons. The evening’s line-up hasn’t been prearranged in advanced and entertainers will be called to the stage improv-style to perform their set. Other surprises are also in store for the audience, including a few special guest performers and some prizes for a lucky few.“It’s intended to be a fun and packed show,” Mr Bailey said. “That’s the reputation that I have for putting on my Mother’s Day show, and some people don’t even mind who’s performing, they just know what to expect.”He said he started the event to give mothers an evening entertainment option, and wanted to find a way to honour these special ladies.“Mother’s need to be honoured for everything they do,” the entertainer said. “They are the first person you meet when you are born so we have that connection and whenever you are in trouble you always want your mother.“Many mothers are very, very close with their children, whether it’s a son, or daughter, and they deserve to be honoured.” Nadanja’s Mother’s Day Show tickets, $50, are on sale at Kit and Caboodle and 27th Century Boutique.
