Bermuda Overseas Missions to co-host seniors Christmas party

A local charity that normally helps people in far off countries is working a little closer to home this holiday season by reaching out to Bermuda’s senior citizens.

Bermuda Overseas Missions, in collaboration with Carol Clarke’s Outreach Ministry will be holding a Seniors Christmas Party on Saturday at the Citadel, Salvation Army headquarters on North Street in Hamilton.

Bermuda Overseas Missions, a registered charity, has for the past 11 years been taking students from Bermuda to different countries overseas to experience poverty and help make a difference by building houses in partnership with Habitat for Humanity.

Seniors from various organisations have been invited including those from the Senior Learning Centre, care homes, and churches.

“The members of our organisation are very excited to be involved with Carol and her ministry in this special holiday Christmas lunch.

“This is a truly wonderful way to recognise many of the Island’s seniors and allows our adolescent volunteers to share in the true meaning of Christmas,” said David Thompson, President of Bermuda Overseas Missions. “Local dignitaries, as well as some of our elected officials will also be attending.

“Importantly, I wish to recognise the generous financial support of all of our sponsors, as their support allows these seniors to enjoy this holiday event free of charge.”

The event is free on Saturday from 1pm to 3pm.
