Alterra executives win industry awards

Alterra Specialty chief executive officer Stephen Vaccaro has been honoured with a Service to Industry Award from The Professional Insurance Wholesalers Association of New York State (PIWA). This award is given annually to an individual for his or her strong commitment to and support of the excess and surplus-lines industry.

In addition, Sonia Galvis, chief underwriting officer of Alterra Latin America, was recently presented with the Cesareo Jaimes Merit Award by Asociacion Colombiana de Tecnicos en Reaseguros (ACTER), the Colombian Association of Technical Reinsurance. This award recognizes outstanding professional achievement and is given only to the most accomplished leaders of the insurance industry in Colombia.

Marston (Marty) Becker, CEO of Bermuda-based Alterra Capital Holdings Ltd., said: "We congratulate Sonia and Steve for having been recognised by their peers for the extraordinary contributions they have made over the years in their respective markets, and are proud that they are now key members of Alterra's leadership team.

"They both exemplify the personal and professional qualities that we value so highly at Alterra and that we believe help to make us a market of choice for our clients."
