Canopius announces promotions

Canopius Group Ltd has announced two promotions within the leadership of its marine and energy division.

Joyce Webb, currently deputy divisional underwriter, has been appointed divisional underwriter, marine and energy. She takes over this position from Stephen Gargrave, joint active underwriter of Syndicate 4444, to whom she will continue to report. Ms Webb will be responsible for Canopius's marine and energy division which currently underwrites marine property and liability, cargo and specie, energy physical damage and liability, and non-marine engineering.

Philip Sandle, currently marine liability underwriter, has been promoted to deputy divisional underwriter, marine and energy.

Mr Gargrave said: “Joyce has a wealth of experience in the underwriting and management of marine business and has been a key member of the marine and energy division since joining Canopius in 2004. This appointment recognises her achievements within the division and is well-deserved.”

Jim Giordano said: “The marine and energy division has been a core division for Canopius since the Group began and its strong track record is proof of our technical approach and disciplined underwriting. I am confident that under Joyce's leadership, ably supported by Philip, the division will continue to develop and enhance its position in the market.”
