Endurance hires ILS Capital’s Faure as global reinsurance chief

Endurance Specialty Holdings has named Jerome Faure as the new chief executive officer of the company’s global reinsurance unit.Mr Faure joins the Bermuda-based property and casualty insurer from Don Kramer’s start-up fund manager, ILS Capital Management next month.The announcement comes just months after Endurance hired former Axis Capital chief underwriting officer Jack Kuhn to lead the firm’s global insurance operations.Endurance set out last summer to hire heads for both its insurance and reinsurance divisions as it sought to build out its senior management under CEO David Cash.Mr Faure, who starts on March 11, will be responsible for the company’s Bermuda, North America and international reinsurance operations.Over his 25 year career, Mr Faure has held senior underwriting and management positions in a number of global reinsurance companies. Prior to being a partner in ILS Capital Management in Bermuda, he served as director and chief underwriting officer for Tokio Millenium Re where he managed their Bermuda-based reinsurance operations.“Jerome is highly regarded in the reinsurance industry for his ability to strategically build businesses across the full breadth of underwriting products,” said Endurance CEO, David Cash.“His extensive international experience and relationships will be a welcome addition to our leadership team and we look forward to working with Jerome to expand Endurance’s global reinsurance footprint.”“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to work with Endurance’s leadership, underwriting teams and business partners to build on the company’s many strengths and continue to grow Endurance’s reinsurance business,” Mr Faure indicated,Mr Faure started his reinsurance career at the SCOR Group, progressing through a number of positions of increasing responsibility in Paris, Tokyo, London and New York.He became president & CEO of SCOR US Corporation and a member of the SCOR Group Executive Committee responsible for worldwide property & casualty. Mr Faure holds B.S. degrees from ENSTA Paris, and INSTN Saclay France, and a M.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Illinois.
