A record number of Bermudian students are taking part in an annual summer intern programme with companies belonging to the Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers organisation.

Biltir member companies are welcoming 29 students from across the island, beating last year’s record of 26.

The students will join Biltir companies for ten weeks of paid work throughout the summer to learn about all aspects of the life insurance and reinsurance industries.

They will gain experience in a variety of potential careers, including underwriting, actuarial, finance, legal, client management and IT.

Biltir co-ordinates networking opportunities for the interns throughout the programme, arranges weekly lunch and learn sessions and hosts two social networking events that will include other business professionals and leaders from Biltir member companies.

This year’s programme will feature an inaugural introduction session by the Bermuda Monetary Authority, hosted at the BMA’s offices.

Biltir executive director Christine Patton said: “Biltir is committed to delivering an educational and rewarding experience to all participants, with the end goal of attracting Bermudian university graduates to the Bermuda life reinsurance sector.
