Powertranz and Mastercard simplify restaurant payments
Bermuda-headquartered Powertranz has partnered with Mastercard to provide a pay-at-the-table solution in Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados.
Mastercard is supporting the go-to-market rollout of a solution that helps restaurants offer secure contactless payment acceptance and a more seamless dining experience.
Powertranz is a payment gateway powering online and in-person payments for merchants across the Caribbean and Central America.
Powertranz provides secure, multi-currency payment solutions, tokenisation services and fraud management solutions to more than 15,000 businesses, processing more than 60 million transactions annually.
Designed to enhance the guest experience and support more efficient restaurant operations, Powertranz’s pay-at-the-table provision connects the dining journey from ordering through checkout, a statement said.
Restaurants are now able to accept secure contactless payments using compatible Android devices and also offers a QR code payment option.
Mastercard said that the new capabilities help restaurants reduce waiting times, improve service efficiency, and eliminate the need for additional payment hardware.
Eldred F Garcia, senior vice-president of business development at Powertranz stated: “Restaurants and hospitality businesses shouldn’t have to choose between a better customer experience and technology that works with the way they operate.
“Through our partnership with Mastercard, we are helping restaurants modernise the dining experience and connect ordering and payments in a more seamless way.”
The statement said that Powertranz and Mastercard are supporting the hospitality industry’s shift toward more digital, efficient and customer-friendly service models, with Mastercard serving as a strategic partner in bringing the solution to market.
Dalton Fowles, country manager for English Caribbean at Mastercard added: “Consumers increasingly expect technology to make everyday experiences simpler, and dining is no exception.
“Through our partnership with Powertranz, we’re helping restaurants offer guests a more convenient way to order and pay, while making it easier for micro, small and medium-sized businesses to adopt digital payment acceptance and operate more efficiently.”
Powertranz is integrated with more than 20 banks and processors across 30 countries, helping restaurants connect pay-at-the-table with technology already in use across the region.
The statement said that Powertranz and Mastercard are helping restaurants and hospitality businesses deliver faster, more convenient and secure payment experiences. The partnership supports a key merchant segment while responding to growing demand for contactless payments and seamless customer experiences.
