Sean Duffy has joined KPMG in Bermuda as a partner in its tax practice, while Jay Payne has retired from the firm.
In a statement, KPMG said Mr Duffy brings more than 25 years of experience in the United States advising public and private companies on domestic and international tax matters, financial reporting, tax compliance and tax governance.
He has worked with clients across financial services, private equity, real estate, manufacturing and consumer sectors, and brings significant experience in income tax accounting.
Most recently, he worked as a managing director with Deloitte in New York, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Will McCallum, head of tax at KPMG in Bermuda, said Mr Duffy’s extensive technical expertise, leadership experience and client-focused approach would strengthen the tax practice.
“Sean’s experience advising multinational organisations, combined with his strong track record of building high-performing teams and delivering exceptional client service, makes him an excellent addition to our leadership team,” Mr McAllum said. “We look forward to the insight and leadership he will bring to our clients, people and the wider firm.”
Mr Duffy said he was excited to be joining the firm. “Bermuda continues to play an important role in the global business landscape, and I am eager to support our clients as they respond to evolving regulatory and tax developments while pursuing their strategic objectives,” Mr Duffy added.
Mr Payne’s retirement comes after a three-decade career in tax.
“Jay has made a significant contribution to KPMG during his time with the firm,” said James Berry, chief executive officer of KPMG in Bermuda.
“He has been a trusted adviser to our clients and a valued colleague to many across the firm. We thank Jay for his years of service and wish him all the very best in his retirement.”
Mr Payne said: “It has been a privilege to spend my career working alongside exceptional clients and colleagues. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and grateful for the relationships, experiences and opportunities that have shaped my time at KPMG in Bermuda.”
