June 13, 2011Dear Sir,I write with reference to my comments regarding the Tynes Bay Waste Management Facility which were printed in the June 13 edition of The Royal Gazette. I am quoted as commenting that "a third stream would allow extra burning capacity and could result in the building of a second smokestack”. I wish to clarify that at the time I made this comment I expressed uncertainty as to the need for a second smokestack. I have since clarified that installation of a third stream does not require an additional smokestack.I have written to clarify this in the hope that debate is not sidetracked by this comment, and so that emphasis may remain on the issues of how we came to be storing waste at Morgan's Point, and how we will address our country's high level of waste production.SEN KATHERINE MICHELMOREOne Bermuda Alliance
