Call an election, please
July 14, 2011
Dear Sir,
Whoever said that living in Bermuda would be paradise if we didn't read your (wonderful) newspaper or listened to talk shows had it spot on.
Anybody reading the news over the past few weeks should be embarrassed that this PLP regime is still in existence. Other than spend money, blame others and stick their collective fingers in the hole in the wall, they are completely incapable of solving a problem or even speaking about it.
Look at this:
l$60 million cruise ship pier is breaking apart — no comment
lZane Desilva misrepresents a VSB story — silence, no comment ... can't touch Zane!
lThe Ferry service is a joke — Pink route now costs more per ride than half a tank of gas and if a tourist has to leave St George's ... God help them all.
lTerry Lister and the gang spend a week in Florida watching a space shuttle lift off that they can see for maybe three minutes — no comment
lVagrants sleeping, urinating and begging all over Hamilton — D Burgess says “Figure it out, Charles”
lThe economy has been in a shambles for years and the PLP does not know how to start fixing it and is too embarrassed to ask.
lSame thing goes for the hotel and hospitality industry.
But, and this is important stuff, the PLP legislators will soon spend a day or so talking about legislation that will stop us from putting garbage out before 7pm the night before! Well, I guess that's because those are the kind of problems that they actually can get a grip on.
Paula, please call an election so we can get some people in there who can actually govern.
GOD BLESS THE OBA
Southampton
Editor's note: Since this letter was written, the ferry fares increase has been postponed.
