February 13, 2012

Dear Sir,

On behalf of the management and staff of The MarketPlace supermarkets and The Lions Clubs of Bermuda we are using your medium to publicly thank the Bermuda community who gave so generously to this worthy project Share the Christmas Spirit.

A special thankss to The MarkPlace for the use of all their premises for our tag day, which was held on Saturday, November, 26, 2011. This year we did approximately 561 food hampers which exceeded our expectations, and without the public donations this would not have been possible. At this time when so many persons are finding it difficult to make ends meet our hope is that we were able to help in some small way with them receiving a food hamper during this Christmas season.

As chairwoman of the Share the Christmas Spirit project, I am personally taking this opportunity to say my heartfelt thanks to Scott Carswell, president, Ladricka Simmons, Natalie Rego, Albertha Waite, and especially Joseph Cheeseman for all his hard work in picking up goods from east to the west ends of the Island. Mr. Robert Pacheco, from Pacheco Farms and his dedicated staff for delivery of fresh vegetables that was donated from his farm and placed in each hamper.

Lions Geraldine Waldron, Cora Woods, DG Stephen Dean for their dedication and commitment to this project in preparing food hampers.

Thanks to all preschools, Government and Private Primary and High Schools for their contributions, Anna Faria Machado and her students from Mount St Agnes Academy for wrapping boxes. Mr Barry DeCouto for use of his building, Mr Lionel Raynor, Bermuda Housing Corporation, BGA, Butterfield and Vallis, Europa Imports, Ex-Artillery Men’s Association, Wakefern Food Corp., Ms Shirley Lema, BAC, Wallington Distributors, Everest Re (Bermuda) Ltd. To those Lions family members, friends who not only help to pack but delivered Island wide.

Our prayer is that God will continue to bless each and every one of you and our wish for a healthy and prosperous New Year.

LION DESSIE WALDRON
