You have a right for what is contracted

March 14, 2012

Dear Sir,

Some people just don’t get it. Of course Bermudian’s don’t have the ‘right’ to jobs or a meal on their table or to have their bills paid. And neither do foreign workers. Let’s keep it simple. If a Bermudian does not have a job in Bermuda he does not automatically have the ‘right’ to a job in Bermuda. If a foreign worker does not have a job in Bermuda he does not automatically have the ‘right’ to a job in Bermuda. It is the same for both of them; one is not different from the other as Mr Smith would have it in today’s Letter to the Editor in

The Royal Gazette. When you do have a job if you are a Bermudian you are entitled to and you have the right to, the pay you have contracted to be paid, for the hours you have contracted to work. Same goes for a foreign worker who is contracted to work in Bermuda.
