A wonderful surprise

April 26, 2012Dear Sir,My wife and I have been coming to Bermuda to sail in Bermuda International Race Week for the past five years and have always enjoy our visits on the Island. This morning (Thursday) on my way from Bailey’s Bay where we’re staying to Spanish Point for sailing, my bike ran out of gas with no warning. I wasn’t exactly sure which gas station was closer so I asked a gentleman who pulled up at the intersection where I was stranded. He told me Shelley Bay was closest and was kind enough to offer to get me some gas. Within a few minutes he was back with a litre of gas and when I asked him how much I owed him, he said I didn’t owe him anything, but to talk to the attendant at the station when I filled up the rest of the tank. I fully expected to pay for the gas that went into the tank, as well as, the gas that the gentleman brought me. However, there was no open gas order, so he must have paid for my emergency gas himself. What a wonderful surprise. I am so thankful for the help and kindness this gentleman extended to me. A perfect example of what friendly, warm, and helpful people Bermudians are.TOBIN YOUNGOakville, Canada
