Correction, 8 February 2013

The Bermuda Hospitals Board has asked The Royal Gazette to clarify a reference to the way it is funded. This newspaper reported yesterday that “hospital salaries and bonuses, which are funded by taxpayers, are not made public”.A BHB spokeswoman described the reference as “inaccurate”, saying: “Only one third of our revenue comes from the government subsidy and the subsidy is paid in response to bills incurred by children, seniors and the indigent.“While the subsidy is obviously funded by Government, and hence taxpayers, our funding is much more complex than taxpayers alone.”She wished for it to be noted that the BHB is funded by “a mix of public and private monies”.The Royal Gazette is happy to make the point clear.
