Kind man tried to save stricken dog
April 10, 2013
Dear Sir,
I am hoping this letter finds its way to the very kind man who stopped his pick up truck on Pitts Bay Road on April 9 around noon to assist in trying to save a beautiful Golden Retriever someone had thoughtlessly hit and run over.
I saw the poor animal laying on the road, for how long, I don’t know.
How could someone hit him and run off?
I pulled my car over into one of the driveways along the road. As I pulled out my phone to call emergency services, I saw multiple cars and bikes drive by him. This gentleman pulled over and ran to the dog.
I approached him and told him I had called 911. He told me the dog was still breathing. I brought over a towel I keep in my car (for my own dog, and his muddy walks). He used the towel to lift the dog into the back of his truck and speed him to Endsmeet.
I contacted Endsmeet. Although the poor dog did not survive, I am heartened by the kindness of the man, and the other individuals who stopped long enough to show some respect for that beautiful animal hurt and bleeding on the road.
I’m a dog owner .. have been for many years. Please, if you want a dog, care enough about him or her to safeguard them when you aren’t around. This lovely animal literally died a dog’s death on the road in a pool of blood.
It’s really only the kindness of that gentleman offering him some comfort that brings me some relief.
