July 8, 2013Dear Sir,On behalf of the board of directors and staff of Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in making our 2nd Annual Men’s Health Screening Day a success. On Thursday, June 6, over the course of the day, more than 200 men took advantage of the services available.First I would like to thank the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hamilton for the use of their facilities. The venue not only provided a central location, but also considerably more space than we had at our disposal last year, which greatly assisted in the smooth flow of the men waiting for screening. We are most grateful to all of our community partners, in particular, the Department of Health employees who provided a variety of services including dental, blood pressure and blood glucose screening, body mass analysis, nutrition information and HIV testing. We could not have done this without you.Thanks also to the many charities, vendors, other health professionals and volunteers that supported the event by providing information and/or services for the men who attended including Bermuda Heart Foundation, Bermuda Diabetes Association, Open Airways, Dr Kuni Frith-Black, Natalie Bennett, CHIP Programme, Azure Medical Spa and Wellness Centre, Abbot Laboratories, Jiketsu Martial Arts, Tops Ltd, John Barritt & Son Ltd, and Community Voices.Finally, our thanks to Drs Aitken, Hoefert, Mathew, Sherratt-Wyer, and Ufford who volunteered to provide private consultations to many of the men who attended.We look forward to hosting this event again next year.RHONDA SMITH-SIMMONSEducation OfficerBermuda Cancer and Health Centre
