Please, fix your headlights

Motorists should be vigilant and replace light bulbs on their vehicles when they go out.

March 13, 2014

Dear Sir,

If it only costs $10 to get a headlight bulb for a car, and there’s more than one that basically needs one, shouldn’t the driver basically buy one? If they don’t know how to fix the problem, get somebody who does to fix it if they’re concerned about paying loads of money to a car repair place?

It’s better than driving around aimlessly at night and then, if someone does hit you or you hit them, you’re not blaming the person instead of yourself. Think about the safety of others when you drive. A car headlight is $10 yet some drivers could afford to text or use a cellphone while driving, which costs a lot more than that light ... totally stupid or what?

The police might be busy dealing with other matters but surely (yes, surely) they can’t possibly be stupid enough not to notice faulty brake lights on a car or at night, faulty headlights ... even if not every car looks that way, there’s some that actually do, unfortunately. The careful ones are the ones who actually look into the matter once notified that they actually have this problem.

Anyone who has been notified and the police have recorded the licence plate number shouldn’t be allowed back on the road until that car’s been fully fixed, not before.
