Megaship not the solution for St George’s
Dear Sir,
The internet lists several cruise ships for sale serving 500 to 1000 passengers at advertised prices from $8-25m. These are older boats, (no thrusters for easy docking) and proper prices have to be negotiated.
This think-outside-the-box solution for a weekly St George's cruise ship in season, and an opportunity for a two-weekly cruise to Bermuda and selected Caribbean Leeward islands in the winter, may not be feasible.
We may have to find an operator because we should not attempt a new project of this size with no experience. We could raise the money but finding an operator will be difficult because they are abandoning this size to build larger ships and make more profit. We may be forced to learn how to operate our own ship.
I want to have a cruise ship for St George's, but a megaship will not do. St George's needs to get its docks back and resite the wharf usurpers in more appropriate places.
Yours truly,
BERTRAM GUISHARD
