Media assisting PLP in selling hatred

Dear Sir,

I understand that you add the headlines to your reporters’ work. Strange that the headline today (July 8) “Voters: Crockwell move risky” seemed to bear little relationship to the content.

The headline refers to voters; interesting that in a constituency that is heavily in favour of the One Bermuda Alliance that the only lengthy quotes that Jonathan Bell could get were from dyed-in-the-wool Progressive Labour Party supporters.

One of them used the old saw about lipstick on a pig, but he forgets the snouts in the taxpayers’ trough over the past 18 years have not been the OBA’s.

Particularly strong from these PLP folk was the emphasis that race was the issue; amazing that in an article of, say, 1,000 words, at least half the article was devoted to two stalwarts of the PLP.

The fear is growing, Mr Editor; all these attacks on Michael Dunkley are surely because he is what the PLP and a couple of politicians in the OBA fear most: an honest leader; no kickbacks allowed.

Have we got to the stage that “strong and decisive” — Shawn Crockwell’s rather pathetic excuse — means someone the taxpayers cannot trust with their money.

The case is made that we can trust Michael Dunkley.

My opinion is that the PLP has not got honesty on its side; the only thing it has is racial hatred, but it is selling it so well, ably assisted by the media.

Race is an issue, but only as a weapon of hatred.
