Late flight times to Bermuda really stink

Dear Sir,

I am frustrated in getting an airline flight to Bermuda for my 54th visit. For many years we have used JetBlue and American Airlines, and were very pleased. Not this time. Both airlines offer only evening flights.

JetBlue leaves JFK/NYC at 7.30pm, if on time. Arrives in Bermuda after 10pm. After 30 minutes at the airport and another 30 for the taxi ride, we will be at our destination, an apartment, at about 11pm.

By the time we get to sleep, it would be about 1am. Since we will not have a scooter or transportation in the morning, breakfast is unlikely.

Not only is all of this very difficult and certainly not relaxing, but we will have to pay for an entire day just to sleep for a few hours.

As bad as this is, the return flights leave at 8.30am, which means that we will need to be awake by 5.30am.

This is supposed to be a holiday. My daily routine in New York is easier. Of course, I could take a connecting flight, and pay an additional 50 per cent and make the trip five-plus hours rather than the advertised time of “under two hours”.

Since when is New York a second-class city? It’s no wonder that Bermuda tourism stinks after the summer is over.

Visit number 54 may not be until next year, and that really stinks.
