Scratching the surface in combating plastics

Dear Sir,
I see that Makin Waves is no longer using plastic bags.
I think we could take it a step farther. Who uses more plastic bags than the grocery stores? I think customers should be charged a small fee for bags, and all of that money should be donated to Keep Bermuda Beautiful or any organisation that keeps the island clean.
This would encourage people to use reusable bags, and at the very least help with keeping the island clean. The grocers gain also by not having to bring in so many bags.
