An idea for investment to provide growth in exports
Dear Sir,
This year has broadened the opportunity next for the people of Bermuda if we so desire. A consortium of investors are, under the flag of BOPP, prepared to invest a large investment for us to develop an opportunity to harness some wealth for those who have felt left out of the growth field in Bermuda.
This will create real financial value for all, rather than just a chosen few.
The ability to purchase an ocean-size trawler that can drag a three or four-mile net behind to catch large tuna or similar-sized other fish, which can be sold to our restaurants, grocery stores and your table.
This will also allow for exporting sales of fresh fish and the ability to create more income for the island, with income from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and European markets.
This will curtail the need to purchase Geisha or other canned fish products.
Not to mention the Trojan amount of new employment for our people.
Then we can focus on building indoor farms filled with nourishing vegetables. In all, this cuts down the amount of funds leaving our shores for food.
The next step is the construction of submerged laboratory and the walls needed to hold back the oceans threatening our shores and at-risk areas such as the airport, St George’s, Dockyard, Morgan’s Point and other low-lying areas like Belco.
This would culminate in many work opportunities and hope for the following generations of born Bermudians.
