A solution to Mill Creek flooding

Flooding on Mill Creek Road from the most recent heavy rainstorm (Photograph by Akil Simmons)

Dear Sir,

The Bermuda Government should study the situation in the Netherlands, and the way they dealt with it. Several hundred years ago, they started to build dams around large shallow areas on their coast and to recover these areas for farming and other purposes. As sea levels rise, they are introducing new technologies to deal with this.

The roads in the Mill Creek area, on the east side of Fairyland Creek, are directly connected to the ocean. This has to change. There should be a continuous dam-like structure built through this area with pumps installed that when the water reaches a certain level, they move it back into the sea.
