Letter to the Editor: Be courteous to workers at Dr Cann Park

Ongoing refurbishments: Dr Cann Park

Dear Sir,

It is with both regret and appreciation that I write regarding the ongoing refurbishment of the Dr Cann Park property in Southampton.

I would first like to commend the team from Building Blocks Construction Ltd for their evident professionalism and hard work. As someone who frequently passes by the site, it is clear that they take pride in their craft, and the progress made thus far reflects a high standard of workmanship.

At the same time, I feel it is important to acknowledge and apologise for the discourteous behaviour displayed by some residents towards the workers. Complaints about noise — including the playing of a radio — have at times been expressed in a manner that is unnecessarily disrespectful. Construction work, by its very nature, cannot be carried out in silence, and those undertaking it deserve to be treated with dignity.

It would be remiss of me not to also recognise the many residents who have shown kindness and offered words of encouragement to the team. Their gestures reflect the spirit of community that Dr Cann Park is known for.

Please know that there are residents who are genuinely grateful for the improvements being made. We look forward to a finished space that will be both safe and visually pleasing for all to enjoy.
