Gibbons Company is to open four of its Hamilton stores an hour later in a move which the group says will not impact full-time workers or their salaries.The new operating hours will mean the stores will open at 9.30am, Monday to Saturday, instead of 8.30am. The change will take effect from next Monday and will apply to the main Gibbons Company store on Reid Street, Gibbons Home store in the Washington Mall, as well as Nine West and Twenty 5 Reid on Reid Street.The Perfume Shop located in the Clock Tower building in Dockyard, Peniston Brown on Water Street, St. George and MAC on Front Street will continue to open at 9am. Closing hours for all stores remain 6pm from Monday to Saturday.Gibbons said the changes follow a “a comprehensive review of client purchasing and traffic behaviours”.“This decision will affect a few of our ‘on-call’ supplementary staff in the short term but has no affect on the employment of our full-time staff,” Gibbons Co chief executive officer Paula Clarke said.“We constantly analyse our business to ensure that we are providing the right service, at the right time with the best value for our customers, we saw that fewer and fewer people are shopping between 8.30 and 9.30 in the morning.”“The decision to open later is very much based upon updating our business model and we hope our customers will enjoy the convenience of the enhanced operating hours we will offer leading up to and including the Christmas season.”Useful website: www.gibbons.bm
