Landmark home may become doctor’s offices
A landmark Victorian home on The Lane could soon be turned into doctor’s offices.
The Paget property’s new owners are applying to Planning for a change of use from residential to three doctor’s offices.
Called The Netherlands, the home is at the end of what has become known as ‘doctors row’, with the Family Practice Group and Bermuda Healthcare Services among its neighbours.
The 1.5-acre Harbour Road property at 1 The Lane was recently sold by realtor Crisson & Co for an undisclosed price.
It has 5,000 square feet of living space and was built about 100 years ago. Just prior to selling, it was divided into nine rental units.
The new owners are a trust, The Silver Moon Trust, care of Benevides and Associates.
David Benevides said he could not comment on who the owners were, but confirmed the plan was to create space for doctor’s offices.
The change-of-use application filed in November and recently advertised, calls for internal alterations, change to north elevation and a new 20-car parking area.
The application also details a new two-storey, 3,560 square feet building.
