Grand opening for new Hamilton nail salon
Premier Craig Cannonier will officially open the doors to a new nail salon on Par La Ville Road today.
Orchid Nail Spa has been open since October but today the staff along with Minister of Public Safety Michael Dunkley will celebrate the new business with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Owned by insurance executive Gnica Brangman, Orchid Nail Spa specialises in manicures and pedicures in an environment and speed of service like many people are used to in the US, UK and Canada.
Featuring six pedicure chairs, six manicure tables and four full-time staff, Orchid offers a variety of services, including shellac, acrylic, gelish and gel in three different treatment ranges — mini (30 minutes), classic (60 minutes) and their Orchid Signature (90 minutes), which comes with a paraffin treatment and shiatsu spa massage.
“I wanted to combine old fashioned Bermuda customer service with excellent technicians along with a spa atmosphere to create the ultimate experience,” said Ms Brangman.
Surrounded by insurance companies — Alterra, Willis, Ace and XL, not to mention the local banks Ms Brangman has a client roster of both female and male executives.
Catering to those with time constraints, Orchid offers speedy treatments, including a manicure and pedicure in less than an hour.
“Our clients like to know they can pop in and pop out,” she said. “We guarantee they will be finished within the hour.”
Word travels fast in Bermuda and so far, business has been steady for the salon.
“It’s been excellent so far,” she said. “We’ve only done some direct marketing to the surrounding office buildings and the response has been phenomenal.”
Orchid also has seven on-call technicians, who are available for group events and the salon played host to the National Training Board’s Nail Technician programme. One of the graduate trainees of the programme will be joining the salon at the end of the month.
