Picturesque opens in new location, with 20,000 Roland Skinner prints

The new Picturesque Gallery officially opened its doors yesterday in a new location in the Walker Arcade, allowing customers to order prints from its library of more than 20,000 Bermuda photographs by Roland Skinner.The gallery moved from its former location in the Design Centre on Front Street East.It features and sells the iconic and timeless Bermuda images taken by veteran Bermudian photographer Mr Skinner over his 40-year career.Now part of the A.S. Cooper Group, the gallery is overseen by gallery manager Mary Walker while Mr Skinner still acts in an advisory role and visits the gallery regularly.A.S. Cooper managing director, Somers Cooper commented, “I have always felt that Roland Skinner’s photographs capture the true essence and beauty of Bermuda. We have continued to work with Roland to enhance the brand.“Together we have developed and introduced new products and ideas which ultimately make their way to homes and offices in Bermuda and around the world. These archival quality photographs and gifts continue to promote the island year in and year out. We thought it was only fitting that our Tourism Tourism Minister Shawn G. Crockwell was on hand to officially open the gallery last night.”Some of the new features introduced in the last couple of years include a revamped website that allows purchases to be made online and a new Facebook page which currently has over 1000 followers.New products include a popular soft cover book, “Picturesque Bermuda at a Glance”, as well as images printed on canvas and various gift products featuring the best selling images. The new gallery’s notable features include a large display window featuring back-to-back 80” wide canvas prints.One side features the popular Island aerial image while the other side shows a beautiful Harrington Sound panorama.
