The focus will be on fashion in the heart of Hamilton tonight as Bermuda retailers get set to host the annual Fashion Night Out extravaganza.Sponsored by the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce, this Fashion Night Out is considered retail’s big summer splash — giving retailers and shoppers another great late night shopping opportunity in Hamilton.“Businesses from Court Street to Front Street will be participating in the event, and not just clothing stores,” said Chamber Retail Division chair and Gibbons Company CEO, Paula Clarke. “Hair, make-up, accessories, jewellery and even home decor specialists will all be featuring demonstrations and offering fabulous discounts. The idea is to create a real buzz throughout the entire city, to get people into the stores and starting to think about their summer wardrobes.”Ms Clarke said shoppers can expect fashion shows, hair demonstrations, wine tastings, music and great discounts at all participating stores.“The focus will be on fashion and fun,” she said. “Like Harbour Nights, this the night to see and be seen in the city.”Seen as a much-needed shot in the arm for lagging retail sales, Ms Clarke said the benefits go way beyond the retail sector.“When we shop locally we are stimulating the entire economy, because the retailers we support use our money to pay wages, undertake upgrades to their facilities and reinvest in their product. In turn wages are used to buy other goods and services, the construction industry is stimulated and Government benefits from increased import duties.
