Companies such as Exclusive Events play a key role in providing what is needed to stage everything from unforgettable weddings to glitzy Oscar or Great Gatsby-themed parties.

More and more people are choosing to take some of the legwork out of planning events, whether it be private or corporate parties, weddings or festive shindigs, by reaching out to rental and event companies.

For the past seven years Exclusive Events has provided a one-stop shop for anyone putting on an event.

Since moving part of its operations from Warwick to a more central location in Hamilton it has benefited from the increased visibility.

It opened its city location, at 75 Reid Street, next to Joell’s Alley, last August. The storefront windows provided a perfect space to showcase some of the creative table layouts and trimmings that can be rented.

“Having a store in town has helped,” said Shira Litwack, sales and marketing operations manager.

“We put tables on show in the window and regularly changed them. People would come by each week looking to see what was the new table display.”

A few months later the store were partly altered to become Exclusive Home, part of the Exclusive Group of Companies, selling home decor and furniture.

Exclusive Events continues to operate from a section of the premises, and a rental table, complete with event trimmings, remains on display in one of the store’s windows.

Customers seeking rental options for weddings, shows and parties, can visit the shop and place orders. A mock-up version of a fully-laid out table is prepared for their approval, which allows for any adjustments and tweaks.

Sometimes, especially for corporate events, the Exclusive Events’ team assume creative responsibility to meet clients’ wishes.

The firm, which is owned by Steven Faries, rents out everything from tables and chairs, to tablecloths, furniture, plates, cutlery, chandeliers and even a dance floor.

Photographs of what can be achieved are displayed on the company’s Facebook page.

“We can design wedding parties, corporate events — or if people just want some cutlery or chairs for parties, we can rent those,” said Ms Litwack.

The company has dealt with events attended by hundreds of people. If events get too big the firm will reach out to other event companies to source more items.

“Event companies work with each other when they need to, because we all only have so many tables and chairs in storage,” explained Marsha Faries, event specialist.

The company continually updates its offerings, said Ms Litwack. “Everyone wants to have a unique wedding so we are always looking to bring in new tablecloths, tables and chairs.”

Another important consideration for weddings is the Pantone colour of the season. For 2015 the colour is Marsala, which has elements of red and brown and takes its name from a wine.

The rental wedding table now on display at the Reid Street store features a centrepiece of Marsala-coloured feathers in a vase.

Destination weddings are a growing sector, and often a bride will contact Exclusive Events for help with on-Island arrangements.

“May and June are the most popular months for weddings. When a destination bride arrives I will show her around,” said Ms Litwack.

Setting up for a wedding can start at 8am on the big day, with company staff also on-hand late into the evening, or even the earlier hours of the morning, packing up everything and returning it to the warehouse.

The company caters for all budgets. Sometimes it might be assisting a family that simply needs to rent out an extra table or a few chairs and tablecloth for a party or gathering; at the other end of the scale are lavish weddings and corporate events held on a beach, or in at hotel, with extensive requirements.

The demand for companies to rent out decor for weddings, corporate events, parties and other events is showing no signs of waning.

Ms Litwack said: “The past year has probably been our busiest.”
