The landmark former Lemon Tree Cafe has taken on a new lease of life.

Bulli.Social, which styles itself as “Bermuda’s gourmet burger, poutine and dawg shoppe”, serves burgers and other snacks. It opened last week and the new addition to the takeaway scene has proved to be a hit.

The restaurant is operated by Jonny Roberts, owner of Hamilton’s Bolero restaurant and his business partner Tyler Nearon, who managed Bolero.

The takeaway on Queen Street, is doing a roaring trade, but more is to come as the rear section, formerly the beer garden and dining area at Lemon Tree, is undergoing renovations and is expected to open in the next few weeks.

Mr Nearon, a serving soldier in the Royal Bermuda Regiment, joined the Bolero team five years ago after he called in looking for a part-time job.

He rose to the position of restaurant manager before the Lemon Tree became vacant and he and Mr Roberts decided to go into partnership with a new venture.

Mr Roberts, who is also the chef at Bolero, will continue to run the popular Front Street restaurant, while Mr Nearon will concentrate on Bulli.Social.
