PR firm Media Maven takes on Bardgett

Public relations and copywriting company The Media Maven has hired a new staff member.

The company, founded by Nadia Laws, a former reporter at The Royal Gazette, has taken on Robyn Bardgett as a copywriter on a freelance basis.

Ms Laws said: “I'm very excited to welcome Robyn on board as a freelance copywriter. We have worked together in our previous career as journalists for The Royal Gazette and have a similar vision to provide meaningful content and a heart-centred approach to doing business.”

Ms Laws, who started the company last year, added: “It also signifies an important milestone in The Media Maven's journey as we work to fill a need for more cost-effective PR options on the island.

“After several months of business growth, it became evident another set of hands would be needed to keep up with the high demand.

“Robyn came to the rescue by offering a unique skill set, including experience with editing, copywriting and event management that will be a great asset to The Media Maven moving forward.”

Ms Bardgett started her career as a junior reporter at The Royal Gazette and later moved to the now-closed Bermuda Sun, where she was sections editor for the supplements department.

She also managed a lifestyle magazine, has planned weddings and events and gained international experience working in London.

Ms Bardgett said: “I am so pleased to be able to work with Nadia and help expand the services of The Media Maven with my years of experience in the industry.

“This opportunity comes at a great time in my career when I am looking to expand my copywriting services and engage with others who are doing great things in the community.

“Nadia's vision fits perfectly with my values to create meaningful stories that get to the heart of an organisation.”

Ms Laws, who wrote under her maiden name Arandjelovic at The Royal Gazette, said that she and Ms Bardgett had a thorough understanding of media relations, as well as good contacts within the industry to help clients achieve their aims.

Ms Laws added to her qualifications during her final year at the daily newspaper with a part-time course which qualified her as a member of the internationally recognised UK Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

Past clients of the firm include insurance group Freisenbruch-Meyer, the Bermuda Hospitals Board, Masterworks Museum, the Centre on Philanthropy, BeesMont Law, Bermuda Casino Gaming Commission the Bermuda Hospitality Institute and film company Burnt House Productions.
