Fun Golf at Dockyard now has a restaurant, Caddy Shack Grill, which is serving healthy local dishes, including an option for vegetarians and vegans.

Since opening three years ago Fun Golf has seen tremendous growth and has become a favourite of locals and overseas guests.

With cruise ship arrivals to Bermuda up this year, the business has been anticipating a busy season for its mini golf course, and owner Hakan Lindgren believes the new restaurant will boost tourism and attract local guests.

He said: “So far, the golf course is doing slightly better than last year as there is more cruise ships in, but hopefully the restaurant will entice people to stay a bit longer.

“Over the years, the mini golf course would hosts corporate guests for the holidays such as Christmas, but because they did not have a restaurant, the foods was catered and sent over.”

The Caddy Shack Grill’s menu is geared towards promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Michael Robinson, owner and chef of the restaurant said: “Most foods will be from my mother, RoseAnn Tucker’s recipes. She will also be here cooking and preparing meals. We are minimising salts and incorporating healthy meals. Right now it’s a soft opening, we have a limited menu with local fish, shrimps, fries, coleslaw, burgers and rotisserie chicken.”

Mr Robinson believes that the opportunity came at a perfect time.

He said: “I was told by one of the employees, Wayne Augustus, that they were opening a kitchen and that they have already given it to someone. I said ‘Man, you should have told me, I would’ve liked that opportunity’. The person ended up backing out last minute and Wayne called me, so I jumped on the opportunity right away.”

Mr Robinson has 25 years experience in the food industry, working in London and Bermuda.

“I have been working in London for seven years. I am back and forth and am excited about this endeavour,” he said.

“To come to work here everyday with this amazing view, that is just great.”

The opening hours for Fun Golf and the restaurant are Monday to Sunday from 10am to 10pm. For more information call 400-7888.
